The National Truffle and Typical Products Market Fair is held every year on the last two weekends in November, and it has a wide variety of stands displaying truffles from the Valtopina, Umbria and Italy, with an interesting section dedicated to products from other countries. Since 1981 this major event has offered a series of activities, including guided tours by truffle experts, tastings with delicious combinations of the famous trifola (white) truffle with olive oil and wine, and culinary offerings with “all truffle” menus.
Of special interest are the sacks used by truffle dogs, the national competition ‘Search by truffle dog’ and the promotion of short chain: ‘VALTOPINA GUSTA & DEGUSTA’.
The Embroidery and Hand Weaving Market Fair is held the first week in September, and features not only the renowned textiles tradition in Umbria, but also exhibitors coming from all over the country, with the aim of reviving the old art of embroidery and establishing a dialogue between the different traditions through series of workshops and twinning with other schools in Italy.
The last week in June and first week in July is the time of the Palio di San Bernardino, a medieval reenactment of the rivalry between the different town quarters, with competitions, games, shows and an interesting historical costume parade and traditional foods.
